Pre-Bariatric Evaluation
A pre-bariatric evaluation is a thorough assessment designed to evaluate an individual's mental, social, and emotional readiness for weight-loss surgery. This evaluation is typically a prerequisite for undergoing bariatric procedures, such as gastric bypass or sleeve gastrectomy.

The assessment aims to identify any concerns or factors that may affect the individual's ability to achieve their weight-loss goals and to ensure a successful surgical outcome. By addressing these issues beforehand, we help pave the way for a smoother transition into the weight-loss journey, enhancing both physical and psychological well-being.
During the pre-bariatric evaluation, the clinician will conduct a thorough assessment of the individual's mental health, focusing on key areas such as eating habits, motivation for surgery, and the ability to adapt to the lifestyle changes that will follow the procedure.

This evaluation will also consider the strength of the individual’s support system, assessing their readiness to seek help and guidance as needed throughout their weight-loss journey.

Following the psychosocial evaluation, the medical team will determine the individual’s candidacy for the surgery. If approved for the procedure, it is highly recommended that the individual participates in nutrition education and counseling support to effectively prepare for surgery and successfully embrace the lifestyle changes that are essential for long-term success.
